How to Prepare for a Corporate Video Shoot

Updated April 2026 · 6 min read

We've produced over 2,800 corporate video projects across 51 cities. The single biggest factor in a successful shoot isn't equipment or editing — it's preparation. Here's the checklist we share with every client.

1. Lock Down Your Key Messages

Before the crew arrives, know the 3–5 key messages you want the video to communicate. Write them down. Share them with everyone who will appear on camera. The most common mistake is going into a shoot without a clear messaging framework and hoping it comes together in the edit.

2. Brief Your On-Camera Talent

If executives or team members will be interviewed, give them the questions at least 48 hours in advance. Not so they can memorise scripted answers — that always sounds stiff — but so they can collect their thoughts and feel confident on the day. Confidence reads on camera.

3. Wardrobe Guidelines

Avoid small patterns (stripes, checks) as they create moiré effects on camera. Solid colours work best. Avoid bright white shirts (they blow out under lights) and all-black outfits (they lose detail). Medium tones — navy, grey, muted colours — are ideal.

4. Room Preparation

If shooting in your office, tidy the space the day before. Remove clutter, whiteboards with sensitive information, and anything that creates visual noise. Our crew will handle lighting and camera angles, but a clean starting point makes everything faster.

5. Schedule Buffer Time

Shoots almost always run slightly longer than planned. Build 30–60 minutes of buffer into your schedule. If we finish early, great. If a key interview runs long because the content is gold, you won't be stressed about the next meeting.

6. Designate a Point Person

Assign one person from your team to be the on-site liaison with our crew. This person handles approvals, answers logistical questions, and ensures the right people are available at the right time. Decision-making by committee on shoot day slows everything down.
