Field notes

What it is like to shoot in London

We have shot every quarter in Canary Wharf for the last six years. A typical week looks like: Monday CEO interview at a Mayfair townhouse, Tuesday product film inside a fintech's Shoreditch HQ, Wednesday three-camera capture at ExCeL, Thursday edit review in our King's Cross studio.

Our regular London workflow covers finance, SaaS, and pharma. We crew with a local production assistant, a dedicated sound recordist, and a lighting team that knows the venues — including ExCeL London — well enough to walk in cold and still finish on time.

London expertise

Filming at London's Premier Corporate Venues

London's corporate filming circuit is dictated by three production realities: ExCeL in the east absorbs 80% of large-format conference work, the QEII Centre handles policy and pharma in Westminster, and a tier of livery halls and refurbished industrial spaces in the City covers everything else. Permit lead times in the City of London and Westminster sit at three weeks for trolley-mounted kit and four to six weeks for Steadicam or jib work in public space.

1. ExCeL London

Royal Docks

ExCeL gives us 11m of clear ceiling under the central boulevard truss and a 6.5m clear height inside the halls. We rig fabric-skin LED panels off truss without point-loading concerns up to 50kg/m. Load-in runs from the eastern dock with five truck bays directly onto the hall floor — no freight elevator chokepoint, which matters when you are turning around a HCP advisory board on a one-night strike. Acoustic treatment is minimal in the open halls (RT60 around 2.4s on the main concourse), so we always deploy DPA 4099s on KOL panelists and capture a clean mix-minus to a Sound Devices recorder rather than relying on the in-house PA tap. SDI runs to the gallery are clean to 80m on Belden 1694A. We deliver pharma broadcast masters at -23 LUFS (EBU R128) and social cutdowns at -16 LUFS LKFS.

2. QEII Centre

Westminster

The QEII's Churchill Auditorium gives 7.2m of clearance over the proscenium and a built-in 4K SDI tie-line infrastructure that lets us avoid running fresh cable through the listed-building corridors. Load-in is the awkward part: Broad Sanctuary has restricted vehicle access and the goods lift is 2.1m wide, so jib arms over 12 feet have to come in piece-meal. Acoustics are quite tight (RT60 ~1.4s) which is helpful for capturing intelligibility on policy panelists, but the room rings on plosives if you do not high-pass at 80Hz on the lectern condenser. We have shot three NHS and ABPI-aligned summits here in the last 18 months.

3. Old Billingsgate

City of London

Old Billingsgate's Main Hall gives us 9m to the apex of the Victorian roof trusses, which is the most useable creative volume of any City venue under £40k hire. The cast-iron columns break sightlines, so we plan B-roll around them rather than fighting them — long-lens compression from the mezzanine reads beautifully on awards-night cutaways. Load-in is via Lower Thames Street with a 4m dock height; we book a Hiab for any flown rigging because there is no in-house chain hoist infrastructure. Mains is 3-phase 63A in three positions, which covers a full ARRI SkyPanel package plus camera village.

For pharma clients running HCP-facing content, we always run a parallel sterile-feed recorder isolated from the venue PA so the compliance team has a clean, untouched master of any KOL statement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about hiring a videographer in London.

Corporate video production in London typically ranges from £3,000 for a single-camera interview setup to £15,000+ for a multi-day brand film shoot. Most B2B projects we deliver fall in the £5,000–£10,000 range, covering pre-production, a full shoot day, and professional post-production. We provide fixed pricing on every quote, so there are no surprises on the invoice. London rates are roughly 15–30% above other UK cities due to higher crew and location costs, but our efficiency and local knowledge keep your project competitive.
We can mobilise a full production crew in London within 24–48 hours for urgent briefs. For planned shoots, we typically schedule 1–2 weeks ahead to allow time for proper pre-production. Because our crew is based across central and Greater London, we reach any location from the City to Canary Wharf to ExCeL London quickly, with no travel surcharges within the M25. For same-day emergencies, we can often accommodate with a streamlined setup.
Yes, we handle every aspect of filming permits in London. The city is divided into 33 boroughs, each with its own Borough Film Service that manages permissions for streets, estates, and public buildings. We coordinate all permit applications on your behalf, including Notices of No Objection for small crews and full permits for larger productions. For shoots in the Square Mile, we work directly through the City of London's Filmapp platform. If your crew is five or fewer with handheld equipment, public highway filming typically requires no formal permit.
Absolutely. We regularly coordinate multi-country shoots for enterprise clients, covering up to 8+ countries per project. London serves as our European hub, and we have trusted local crews across every major city worldwide. You get one point of contact, consistent brand quality, and a single consolidated invoice regardless of how many locations are involved. This is particularly popular with pharma and SaaS brands running global campaigns.
Every project includes two full rounds of revisions at no extra cost. The first round covers structural edits — pacing, scene order, and content changes. The second round handles fine-tuning — colour grading adjustments, audio levels, text overlays, and final polish. Additional revision rounds can be arranged if needed and are quoted transparently upfront so you always know the cost before committing.
We deliver in every format you need. Standard deliverables include high-resolution MP4 (H.264 and H.265) for web and broadcast, plus optimised versions sized for LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and internal platforms like SharePoint or Vimeo. We also provide ProRes masters for archival and any further editing your team may want to do. All files are delivered via secure cloud transfer within the agreed timeline.

London's Video Production Market

London is one of the world's largest and most competitive markets for professional video production, with hundreds of agencies and freelancers serving everything from FTSE 100 corporations to early-stage startups. The city's economy is dominated by service industries, particularly financial services, technology, life sciences, and creative services — all sectors that rely heavily on video content for marketing, internal communications, and thought leadership. London is Europe's leading tech hub, employing more than 589,000 people in its technology sector alone, creating enormous demand for product demos, SaaS explainers, and recruitment films. The financial district in the City of London and Canary Wharf together house the European headquarters of major banks including Barclays, HSBC, and Credit Suisse, all of which commission regular corporate video content. Meanwhile, the life sciences corridor stretching from King's Cross to the Francis Crick Institute drives demand for pharma conference coverage and medical education video. Despite the volume of production companies operating here, most focus on consumer advertising and wedding videography. Few specialise exclusively in B2B content for enterprise clients — the niche where deep industry understanding and structured production processes matter most.

Why Professional Video Delivers ROI

Video has become the dominant medium for B2B marketing, and the data backs it up. According to Wyzowl's annual survey, 91% of businesses now use video as a marketing tool, and 87% report a direct positive ROI from video content. For London-based enterprises competing in global markets, professional video production is no longer optional — it's a baseline requirement for credibility. LinkedIn's own research shows that video posts generate 5x more engagement than text-only content, making it the most effective format for reaching decision-makers in London's dense professional network. Corporate videos also compound in value: a single shoot day can produce a brand film, 6–10 social clips, executive soundbites, and internal communications content, multiplying your return on every pound invested. In a city where the average B2B sales cycle runs 6–18 months and involves multiple stakeholders, video shortens the consideration phase by giving prospects a visceral sense of your brand, culture, and capabilities that no whitepaper or slide deck can match.

Equipment & Crew

We shoot on cinema-grade Sony FX6 and FX9 camera systems paired with Zeiss and Sony G Master prime lenses, delivering the shallow depth-of-field and colour science that separates professional B2B video from amateur content. For conference and event work across London's major venues — ExCeL, Olympia, the Barbican, and QEII Centre — we deploy multi-camera rigs with wireless audio systems (Sennheiser EW and DPA lavaliers) to capture every speaker clearly regardless of room acoustics. Our standard London crew consists of a director/camera operator, sound recordist, and production assistant, scaling up to five or more for complex multi-day shoots. Lighting packages range from portable LED panels for quick executive interviews in your Canary Wharf boardroom to full HMI setups for cinematic brand films. All footage is backed up on-set to redundant drives, and post-production is handled in DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro with professional colour grading, audio mastering, and motion graphics capabilities.

Coverage Area

We cover every corner of Greater London and the surrounding home counties. In central London, we regularly shoot in the City of London (the Square Mile), Canary Wharf, Westminster, Mayfair, Soho, Shoreditch, King's Cross, and the South Bank. These areas are home to the headquarters of global banks, law firms, tech companies, and pharmaceutical firms that form our core client base. We also cover London's major conference and event venues including ExCeL London in Docklands, Olympia in Kensington, the Barbican Centre, Business Design Centre in Islington, and the QEII Conference Centre in Westminster. Beyond Zone 1, we serve clients in Stratford's growing tech corridor around Here East, the media cluster at White City, Croydon's regeneration zone, and Richmond's pharma offices. We operate with no travel surcharges anywhere within the M25, and frequently extend to Reading, Cambridge, Oxford, and Brighton for clients with satellite offices outside London.
