Field notes

What it is like to shoot in Lisbon

We crewed Web Summit across the FIL halls for three years running, with a parallel interview studio in a Príncipe Real townhouse. Lisbon's Atlantic light from April through October is the closest thing to free production value you will find in Europe.

Our regular Lisbon workflow covers Web Summit and nearshore tech. We crew with a local production assistant, a dedicated sound recordist, and a lighting team that knows the venues — including FIL — well enough to walk in cold and still finish on time.

Lisbon expertise

Filming at Lisbon's Premier Corporate Venues

Lisbon B2B production concentrates around three venues: Centro de Congressos de Lisboa in Belém for finance and pharma KOL conferences, Altice Arena at Parque das Nações for Web Summit and large-format keynote work, and Cordoaria Nacional for industrial-aesthetic launch events. Câmara Municipal de Lisboa permits run 10 working days; Tagus waterfront B-roll requires APL clearance separately.

1. Centro de Congressos de Lisboa (CCL)

Belém / Junqueira

CCL's Auditorium 1 gives a 9m proscenium ceiling with broadcast-grade rigging on a 4m grid and 1,500-seat capacity. We use it for finance plenaries, pharma KOL congresses (multiple Pan-European cardiology-aligned events), and EU policy work. Acoustic treatment is professional (RT60 ~1.0s). Load-in via the Praça das Indústrias service entry takes 4 artics with 24-hour access. Power is 3-phase 250A per position. The integrated 4K SDI infrastructure ties into the gallery. The Tagus River B-roll plate from the venue's south face gives a signature Lisbon cutaway we shoot at golden hour.

2. Altice Arena (MEO Arena)

Parque das Nações

Altice Arena (formerly MEO Arena) gives a 20,000-seat bowl with broadcast-grade rigging on a 1.5m grid and 22m ceiling at the apex. We use it for Web Summit, large-format pharma plenaries, and tech keynote work. Acoustically the bowl runs RT60 ~2.6s with full audience; the in-house Meyer Sound LEO rig is broadcast-grade and we tap FOH at -10 dBu rather than capturing ambient. Load-in via Avenida Dom João II takes 6 artics with 24-hour access during bump-in. Power is 3-phase 600A per position. The integrated OB infrastructure includes a permanent fibre backbone that lets us tie into a single drop for full 12G-SDI multicam to a control room.

3. Cordoaria Nacional

Junqueira / Belém

Cordoaria Nacional (the old rope factory) gives a 400m-long industrial cast-iron envelope at 9m clear ceiling with daylight from the saw-tooth roof. We use it for SaaS and DTC launch keynotes where the aesthetic is dominant. Acoustically the space is challenging (RT60 ~2.9s on cast iron, stone, and brick) and we treat the talent area with full drape and floor-mounted bass traps. Load-in via Calçada da Boa-Hora is constrained: 3.6m dock height and 7.5 tonnes per truck. Power is 3-phase 250A on event-day shore connection. The cast-iron column rhythm gives a strong wide master at 16mm full-frame and we always shoot architecture plates as B-roll.

Portuguese pharma KOL deliverables for INFARMED-aligned audiences need European Portuguese voiceover (not Brazilian) with name-card supers in standard Portuguese; we always book Lisbon-based VO talent to keep the accent within audience expectation.

Lisbon's Video Production Market

Lisbon has rapidly emerged as one of Europe's most dynamic tech and startup hubs, hosting Web Summit annually and attracting the European headquarters of major tech companies to Parque das Nações and Oeiras. The city's favourable business climate, competitive costs, and time zone bridging the US and Europe make it a magnet for SaaS, fintech, and digital health companies. Professional video content is essential for brands competing in Lisbon's fast-growing, internationally connected business community.

Why Professional Video Delivers ROI

Portuguese B2B audiences are increasingly video-first — LinkedIn Portugal reports 3x higher engagement on video posts versus static content. For Lisbon's tech, pharma, and energy sectors, a polished corporate film serves conference presentations, investor decks, LinkedIn campaigns, and recruitment content across Portuguese and English-speaking markets. We deliver in every format, ensuring your production budget compounds across every channel.

Equipment & Crew

Our Lisbon crews shoot on Sony FX6 and RED Komodo cinema cameras with Zeiss CP.3 and Sony G Master lenses. We carry Aputure 600d lighting, DJI RS3 Pro stabilisers, Sennheiser wireless audio, and DJI Mavic 3 Pro drones for aerial work. Every setup is designed for Lisbon's exceptional natural light — maximising the golden-hour quality the city is famous for while handling interior shoots in modern tech offices and historic venues.

Coverage Area

Our crew is based in Lisbon but we cover all of Portugal — Porto, Braga, Coimbra, and the Algarve. Multi-city European shoots spanning Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris are coordinated from our Lisbon hub, giving you one point of contact, consistent quality, and a single invoice.
