Field notes

What it is like to shoot in Beijing

We filmed a global automotive customer journey across three CBD showrooms and the China National Convention Center, working with a local fixer team for permits and on-site approvals. Lead times here are real and we plan accordingly.

Our regular Beijing workflow covers automotive and enterprise tech. We crew with a local production assistant, a dedicated sound recordist, and a lighting team that knows the venues — including China National Convention Center — well enough to walk in cold and still finish on time.

Beijing expertise

Filming at Beijing's Premier Corporate Venues

Beijing B2B production concentrates around three venues: China National Convention Center in Chaoyang for the workhorse policy and pharma KOL conferences, Beijing International Convention Center adjacent for smaller medical congresses, and China World Hotel ballrooms for finance and KOL fireside formats. Beijing Municipal permits run 15 working days; central CBD filming requires district-level coordination separately.

1. China National Convention Center (CNCC)

Chaoyang / Olympic Green

CNCC's Plenary Hall seats 6,000 with a 14m proscenium ceiling and broadcast-grade rigging on a 4m grid. We use it for APEC-aligned policy work, pharma KOL congresses (multiple CSCO-Beijing events), and finance plenaries. Acoustic treatment is professional (RT60 ~1.1s). Load-in via the North Fourth Ring Road East service entry takes 6 artics with 24-hour access. Power is 3-phase 400A per position. The integrated 4K SDI infrastructure ties into the gallery for redundant multicam. The Bird's Nest and Water Cube B-roll plates from the venue's south face are signature Beijing cutaways we shoot at 35mm full-frame in the late afternoon.

2. Beijing International Convention Center (BICC)

Chaoyang

BICC's main auditorium gives an 8m ceiling with broadcast-grade rigging and 2,500-seat capacity. We use it as the secondary venue when CNCC is at capacity, and primarily for pharma HCP-facing breakouts where the smaller scale reads more intimate. Acoustic treatment is professional (RT60 ~1.0s). Load-in via the Beichen East Road service entry is constrained: 3.6m dock height and 7.5 tonnes per truck. Power is 3-phase 250A per position. The integrated Dante audio network is reliable and we patch in for redundant capture against our own Sound Devices Scorpio.

3. China World Hotel (CWTC)

Chaoyang / Guomao / CBD

China World Hotel's Grand Ballroom gives a 7.4m ceiling with rigged points on a 3m grid and 1,200 sq m clear span. We use it for finance KOL fireside content (multiple PBoC-adjacent and major-bank events) and pharma medical affairs work. Acoustically the ballroom is warm (RT60 ~0.9s) and runs clean DPA 6066s. Load-in via the Jianguomenwai Avenue service entry is constrained: freight elevator at 2.8m wide and 24-hour notice required. Power is 3-phase 200A per ballroom. The hotel's CBD location makes crew transit to the Guomao financial district efficient; B-roll plates of the CCTV building and CWTC tower from the hotel's upper floors are signature Beijing cutaways.

Beijing winter PM2.5 air quality (December–March) regularly exceeds 150 AQI which means any outdoor B-roll plate has compromised contrast and color saturation; we always shoot a 4K ISO interior backup for any KOL exterior cutaway scheduled in winter months.

Beijing's Video Production Market

Beijing is China's political capital and a major tech hub, home to Zhongguancun — often called China's Silicon Valley — and the headquarters of companies like Baidu, ByteDance, and Xiaomi. The Chaoyang CBD houses the China offices of most multinational corporations, while Financial Street is the centre of Chinese banking and regulation. The China National Convention Center hosts major international summits and trade events. For B2B brands in tech, energy, defence, and government-adjacent industries, professional video content is essential for cutting through in this high-stakes market.

Why Professional Video Delivers ROI

Beijing's B2B audience operates at the intersection of government, tech, and enterprise — and video is the medium that commands attention. Video content on WeChat and LinkedIn China delivers 4x higher engagement than static posts. For Beijing's tech, energy, and institutional sectors, a polished corporate film serves government briefings, trade show presentations, WeChat campaigns, and investor relations. We deliver in every format — from vertical Douyin cuts to 4K broadcast masters — ensuring your production budget works across Chinese and international platforms.

Equipment & Crew

Our Beijing crews shoot on Sony FX6 and RED Komodo cinema cameras with Zeiss CP.3 and Sony G Master lenses. We carry Aputure 600d lighting, DJI RS3 Pro stabilisers, Sennheiser wireless audio, and DJI Mavic 3 Pro drones (subject to local airspace regulations). Every setup is designed for Beijing's conditions — managing the city's seasonal light shifts and navigating restricted filming zones with proper documentation.

Coverage Area

Our crew is based in Beijing but we cover all of Northern China — Tianjin, Qingdao, Dalian, and Xi'an. Multi-city China shoots spanning Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Chengdu are coordinated from our Beijing hub, giving you one point of contact, consistent quality, and a single invoice.
