Field notes

What it is like to shoot in Berlin

We filmed an OMR-style brand activation in a Friedrichshain warehouse, then captured an executive interview series in a Mitte rooftop studio. Berlin gives you industrial textures and clean architectural light in the same shoot day.

Our regular Berlin workflow covers startups and B2B SaaS. We crew with a local production assistant, a dedicated sound recordist, and a lighting team that knows the venues — including Messe Berlin — well enough to walk in cold and still finish on time.

Berlin expertise

Filming at Berlin's Premier Corporate Venues

Berlin's B2B venue map is split across three corridors: Messe Berlin in Charlottenburg for trade-show scale (IFA, ITB, FRUIT LOGISTICA), the bcc and CityCube cluster for conference-format work, and a tier of repurposed industrial venues in Friedrichshain and Mitte for launch-event aesthetics. Bezirksamt permits run 10 working days for public-space filming; drone work over central Berlin is heavily restricted under LBA airspace rules.

1. Messe Berlin CityCube

Charlottenburg

CityCube gives 11m of clear ceiling in Hall A with a 50t-rated grid and 3-phase 400A power across four positions per hall. For pharma congresses we've built KOL studios inside the Hall A north-west corner using duvateen on 12' uprights — the venue's concrete shell rings at RT60 ~2.3s with no audience and ~1.6s when occupied, so we never rely on ambient capture. Load-in via the Jafféstraße service road takes six artics simultaneously. Acoustically the auditorium tier (Auditoria 1–3) is treated to RT60 ~1.0s and works for HCP/KOL panel capture with overhead Schoeps CCM4s as a redundant pair to in-ear lavs.

2. bcc Berlin Congress Center

Mitte / Alexanderplatz

bcc's main hall has a 9m ceiling under the iconic GDR-era dome — the architecture creates a visually distinctive wide master but acoustic challenges in the hemispheric volume (RT60 ~2.8s on speech). We always run a tight pickup pattern on lectern condensers and high-pass aggressively at 100Hz. Load-in via Alexanderstraße is constrained to a 3.5m dock height with one freight bay, so we plan kit on Euro-pallets that break down rather than full road cases. Power is 3-phase 125A per position. For KOL interview B-roll the GDR-era ringed mezzanine gives strong architectural framing at 35mm full-frame.

3. Estrel Congress Center

Neukölln

Estrel's Convention Hall I is the largest hotel convention space in Europe and we use it primarily for pharma incentive summits and large HCP advisory boards. Ceiling is 8.5m flat with a fully rigged grid and 3-phase 250A per quadrant. The room subdivides into three independent acoustic compartments via air-walls — leakage is real (we measure ~58 dB attenuation, not 65 as the spec sheet claims) so concurrent KOL panels need separate audio routing. Load-in is via the Sonnenallee dock with three bays. We always capture an isolated camera ISO + a board mix from the venue's Yamaha CL5 to a redundant Sound Devices recorder.

Berlin winter daylight runs short (sunset 16:00 in December) which means most B-roll planning for KOL backdrops in Mitte needs to front-load before 14:30 to retain clean ambient fill.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about hiring a videographer in Berlin.

Corporate video production in Berlin typically ranges from €2,500 for a single-camera interview setup to €20,000+ for a multi-day brand film shoot. Most B2B projects we deliver fall in the €5,000–€12,000 range, covering pre-production, a full shoot day, and professional post-production. We provide fixed pricing on every quote so there are no surprises on the invoice.
We can mobilise a full production crew in Berlin within 24–48 hours for urgent briefs. Our crew is based locally and covers every major district and venue. For planned shoots we typically schedule 1–2 weeks ahead for proper pre-production and any required permit coordination.
Yes. Filming on public streets in Berlin generally does not require a formal permit for small crews with handheld equipment. However, commercial shoots involving tripods, lighting rigs, road closures, or exclusive use of public space require approval from the relevant Bezirk (district authority) and coordination with the Ordnungsamt. The Berlin-Brandenburg Film Commission provides support for location scouting and permit coordination. We handle all applications including traffic management plans (Verkehrsrechtliche Anordnung) and liability insurance documentation. Processing typically takes 1–3 weeks depending on the district and complexity of the shoot. For shoots at Messe Berlin or government buildings, separate venue-specific permissions are required.
Absolutely. We regularly coordinate multi-country shoots for enterprise clients, covering up to 8+ countries per project. Berlin serves as one of our key regional hubs, and we have trusted local crews in every major city worldwide. You get one point of contact, consistent brand quality, and a single consolidated invoice regardless of how many locations are involved.
Every project includes two full rounds of revisions at no extra cost. The first round covers structural edits — pacing, scene order, and content changes. The second round handles fine-tuning — colour grading adjustments, audio levels, text overlays, and final polish. Additional revision rounds can be arranged if needed and are quoted transparently upfront.
We deliver in every format you need. Standard deliverables include high-resolution MP4 (H.264 and H.265) for web and broadcast, plus optimised versions for LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and internal platforms. We also provide ProRes masters for archival and further editing. All files delivered via secure cloud transfer within the agreed timeline.

Berlin's Video Production Market

Berlin is Germany’s capital and one of Europe’s most dynamic business cities, with a rapidly growing economy built on technology, creative industries, life sciences, and an expanding financial services sector. The city has emerged as Europe’s leading startup ecosystem, home to companies like Zalando, Delivery Hero, N26, and HelloFresh, alongside the European offices of Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Tesla. Berlin’s tech scene is concentrated in Mitte, Kreuzberg, and Friedrichshain, with established corporate headquarters clustering around Potsdamer Platz, Kurfuerstendamm, and the government district. The life sciences and pharmaceutical sector is anchored by Bayer’s Berlin campus, the Charité university hospital complex (one of Europe’s largest), and the Adlershof Science and Technology Park, which houses over 1,200 companies and 6,800 researchers. Berlin is also Germany’s most important conference city, with Messe Berlin hosting landmark events like IFA, ITB, InnoTrans, and DMEA at the CityCube and ExpoCenter City. The city attracts over 100,000 conference delegates annually, creating significant demand for event videography and presentation recording services. While Berlin has a thriving creative production scene, most companies focus on advertising, music videos, and entertainment content. The B2B enterprise niche — where deep industry knowledge and structured production workflows matter — remains notably underserved in a city increasingly dominated by enterprise tech and pharma headquarters.

Why Professional Video Delivers ROI

Berlin’s B2B market is growing faster than any other German city, driven by the rapid expansion of its technology and life sciences sectors. Professional video is essential for companies competing in this environment. LinkedIn is the primary B2B engagement platform in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), and video posts generate 5x more engagement than text-only content. For Berlin-based SaaS companies scaling across European markets, professional video production provides the content engine that drives demand generation, sales enablement, and employer branding simultaneously. A single shoot day at your Mitte office can produce a brand film, executive interview series, 6–10 social clips, and internal communications content in both German and English. The ROI case is particularly strong for Berlin’s large startup and scale-up community, where investor pitch videos, product demos, and customer testimonials directly influence funding rounds and enterprise sales cycles. For pharma and life sciences companies around Charité and Adlershof, video content for medical education, conference coverage, and HCP engagement has become mandatory as the industry shifts to hybrid event formats.

Equipment & Crew

We shoot on cinema-grade Sony FX6 and FX9 camera systems paired with Zeiss and Sony G Master prime lenses, delivering the visual quality that Berlin’s premium corporate market demands. For conference and event work at Messe Berlin, CityCube, Station Berlin, the Estrel Congress Center, and the bcc Berlin Congress Center, we deploy multi-camera rigs with wireless audio systems (Sennheiser EW and DPA lavaliers) to capture every speaker clearly in large halls and conference rooms. Our standard Berlin crew consists of a director/camera operator, sound recordist, and production assistant, scaling to five or more for complex multi-day productions. Berlin’s excellent studio infrastructure means we can also arrange purpose-built interview and filming environments when your office is not suitable. All footage is backed up on-set to redundant drives, and post-production is handled in DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro. For bilingual productions — standard in Berlin’s international business environment — we provide German and English subtitle and graphics capabilities in-house.

Coverage Area

We cover all of Berlin and the surrounding Brandenburg region without travel surcharges. Our regular shooting locations include Mitte (the government and corporate district), Potsdamer Platz and Tiergarten, Charlottenburg and the Kurfuerstendamm business corridor, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain (the startup and tech hub), Adlershof Science and Technology Park, and the new Siemensstadt Square campus. We cover Berlin’s major conference and event venues including Messe Berlin (ExpoCenter City and CityCube), Station Berlin, the Estrel Congress Center (Europe’s largest hotel and convention complex), bcc Berlin Congress Center, and Tempodrom. Beyond Berlin, we regularly serve clients in Potsdam (home to several film and media companies at Studio Babelsberg), Brandenburg an der Havel, and Leipzig. For clients with pan-German requirements, we coordinate crews in Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, and Cologne through our national network.
